Ponte Vecchio
- address , 25079 Vobarno
Description
The Ponte Vecchio, or the Old Bridge, was built at the end of the 16th Century, during the Venetian domination, along the Chiese River, in the heart of the residential area of Vobarno. The bridge, which is built in stone, provides access to the historical centre of Vobarno and was restored, together with the nearby square, in 2007. Until the first decades of the 20th century the Ponte Vecchio was the only access route to the town centre, over the river. Today, after the construction of other bridges on the Chiese river, the Ponte Vecchio is most frequently crossed by foot or by bicycle, apart from on certain special occasions.
