Forno Fusorio di Pertica Alta

Description

The site can be reached along a “mule track” that descends from the village of Livemmo di Pertica Alta. The location of the melting furnace was chosen due to the ample presence of the primary resources needed for metal processing: water and charcoal. The furnace was used for the first transformation of iron ore extracted in Valtrompia, which led to subsequent processing in the Valsabbia forges, located further downstream.
The area is open to the public.
